This image, which used to be my Facebook cover for a long while, didn't fit the story of La Calavera de Karima.
The most frustrating is the moment when you discover you didn't take enough photographs, luckily, this doesn't happen a lot. But what happens most of the time is that I have too many images. For instance I decide to go for a triptych and end up with 4 images I really like. Or when I planned to have 10 images and I shot just enough looks to get to that, but ended up taking more close-ups and detail shots than planned and now can't choose.
Didn't mean to have a portrait for the Caterpillar's Sister.
In those cases it's a classic case of killing your darlings. Like with the Caterpillar's Sister portrait. That editorial never was supposed to have a close-up portrait, but for some reason I did shoot one. Now I don't know whether to consider it as a single shot or an extra in the editorial? On my website I added it as an extra photo, apart from the editorial. Perhaps that answers the question then.
Not always do the extra photographs come online. I actually think that most of the time they end up in the archives, never to be seen by anyone.
One of the latest editorials I shot was especially hard to choose from. I don't know why exactly, but it took me a really long time before I had the selection done. Unfortunately, I can't show the editorial itself yet but I can show which photo didn't make it to the final selection.

This really was a matter of killing your darlings, as multiple looks and photos didn't make it to the final selection. However, I liked this image too much to just keep it for myself.
