Taarten van Abel

In May I photographed cake baker (but nowadays I think also a bit of a businessman) Siemon de Jong, better known as Abel.

Abel is from the program "Taarten van Abel", it's a children's program about making a cake for someone who's special to you or has done something special. The children all have their own special story and make the cake together with Abel, the cake baker.

Tonight was the annual Gouden Televizier-Ring Gala and Taarten van Abel was nominated for the Gouden Stuiver (Golden Penny) along with Sesamstraat (the Dutch Sesamestreet) and Klokhuis (a Dutch educational children's program). Unfortunatly Taarten van Abel didn't win, but Sesamstraat did.

I still think it's amazing Taarten van Abel got even nominated! And eh, maybe next year? Hey, it took Sesamstraat almost 35 years too! ;)
